Read and Share Online Broker Ratings

It's important to be informed when choosing an online broker, and there's no better person to give you the bottom line than an actual customer of the brokerage you're researching. Accordingly, in addition to our Editorial reviews, we encourage our users to submit their own online broker ratings and reviews. You can read user ratings and reviews on the bottoms of the editorial pages for the individual brokers listed on the menu to your left, and you can submit your own reviews there as well. We hope you'll share your insights on the online brokerages you've used with our community, so we can all have the most up-to-date information.

— Charles Schwab doesn't care when the make a mistake!!!!!

Just an FYI on this bank. On Monday, 8/11/2008 they made a mistake where they improperly scanned a check and debitted my account $480.24. I talked with them on the phone, they agreed it was a mistake, and they would fix it. By Thursday, 8/14/2008 it was still not fixed, with no status, no indication of what they would do. I sent an email, and got a "bogus" we are working on it. When I called by phone and got a manager, all he was concerned with was telling me not the be upset. As of today the problem is not resolved.
This bank does not care about the customer, and are in no rush to fix THEIR problems. Watch out!

— 2 years at IB

The writeup is spot on. If you know what you're doing, IB is great. If you dont, then you need to go elsewhere, it's not a place to learn. IB is basically a professional traders platform and not geared toward the retail set like Schwab, Etrade and those.

— you are very helpful

Charles Schwab has helped me very often and what I like the most about them is that they are patient even when I ask stupid questions

— Completely satisifed long-term customer

I've been using B&H.com for nearly 8 years and personally, I couldn't be happier with the service they provide. The site is simple, no frills, and I find it very easy to use for both buying and selling. I started with the basic plan when I was a new investor and have moved to the $14.99 plan to allow me to make more purchases per month. It was easy to set up a link with my bank account. Likewise, on the few occasions I've sold and wanted the cash for other purposes, the money was easily transferred to my bank account. There are no commissions, but to be strict about costs, you can divide $14.99 by the number of transactions you make per month and consider that your commission. I feel the $15/month fee is more than worth what B&H.com provides. I don't consider the site to be anything more than it is: an inexpensive, easy way to acbeepulate shares of stocks and re-invest the dividends.

— Excellent Online broker for a lil extra over the competition

I have had etrade for 6 months and I think it is great. I like how you can tie in a high yield fdic insured saving account with your brokerage and IRA accounts allowing instant transfers. I think it is best though for people with atleast 25k though to avoid all the hidden fees and get the 9.99 trade price.

The reason I have not switched to zecco or something cheap, besides the integration of services, is the excellent research available on this site. Really, before going for the "cheapest" online broker, check out etrade. They have the best system for the astute investor to build wealhth. Tons of research, high yield accts and smooth, fast web intrerface. I also like the RSA security feature 0 they give u a device which generates a new password for you every 1 minute. I often log onto etrade from non-secure sites (public wifi, work computer)..it is nice to know my password changes every minute which guarantees security,

— Fidelity worked out for me

I am a small-time investor, not terribly savvy, but desiring the comfort of investing my money in solidly managed funds that will be stable for a long time to come. With Fidelity, I feel confident that I have managed to achieve that goal. I wouldn't dream of depositing my money in any other location. Furthermore, I work for a large healthcare coporation which opted to change several years ago to Fidelity to manage their 401k funds for employees. We experienced significant growth and health of our portfolios from the month after Fidelity took over. In addition, the liason to our company is friendly, pleasant, and knowledgeable.

I use etrade for 4 years and have found that my orders are executed quickly, the site operates free of kinks, and the services provided are excellent. I am very happy with the financial data provided and the analyst views of stocks. I do however feel the information regarding EFTs and mutual funds could be somewhat more detailed. However, as my interested in the stock market has deepened and I have expanded the research I do off of the site, I am beginning to look for a bargain broker. For someone with limited investment experience and limited interest in the stock market this may be the best broker. For serious investors, however, this may not be your site.

— Easy to use.

Sharebuilder is the first brokerage firm I have used to make stock purchases. I have found Sharebuilder to be very easy to use, especially for beginners. Additionally, the $4 trade order is reasonably priced. The only problem with the $4 trade is that you are limited as to when that order will be placed. The real time trades of $9.95 were just recently lowered, and are also reasonably priced. The website format makes it easy to navigate between screens, and the research tools provides you all of the statistics and ratios right at your finger tips.

This is the ideal broker for small investors because of it's very low brokerage and insightful guidance. It provides timely tips to enter and exit from the market. It is particularly very beneficial for day traders.Investors for long time horizon would not find anything extraordinary here. Those wbeepare primarily into derivatives will find it very useful.I am very much into options trading and find it's option spread sheet very logical. They certainly value their customer very much and are always very quick in their response. My recommendation for investors are positive with this broking firm. thanks.
