— Excellent Online broker for a lil extra over the competitionI have had etrade for 6 months and I think it is great. I like how you can tie in a high yield fdic insured saving account with your brokerage and IRA accounts allowing instant transfers. I think it is best though for people with atleast 25k though to avoid all the hidden fees and get the 9.99 trade price.
The reason I have not switched to zecco or something cheap, besides the integration of services, is the excellent research available on this site. Really, before going for the "cheapest" online broker, check out etrade. They have the best system for the astute investor to build wealhth. Tons of research, high yield accts and smooth, fast web intrerface. I also like the RSA security feature 0 they give u a device which generates a new password for you every 1 minute. I often log onto etrade from non-secure sites (public wifi, work computer)..it is nice to know my password changes every minute which guarantees security,
— Time to make some changesI have been with ETrade for a pretty long time, probably more than 5 years I would say. They used to be a great company to deal with, very customer service oriented and reasonably priced. But over the last few years, and especially since they became more popular and their ads drove many new customers to the site, the level of service has really declined. The web site is noticeably slower and it is almost impossible to get a live person on the phone during trading hours. I have been looking at other discount brokers and prices are pretty similar now, but the other sites have better research tools and better layouts for information. I do still have some investments with ETrade and their CD rates are a little better than others, but one of my goals for 2008 is to identify a better alternative and make the change to another broker. ETrade has been coasting and needs to find the enthusiasm and customer service they had back in the early days.
— Very good... somewhat expensiveI use etrade for 4 years and have found that my orders are executed quickly, the site operates free of kinks, and the services provided are excellent. I am very happy with the financial data provided and the analyst views of stocks. I do however feel the information regarding EFTs and mutual funds could be somewhat more detailed. However, as my interested in the stock market has deepened and I have expanded the research I do off of the site, I am beginning to look for a bargain broker. For someone with limited investment experience and limited interest in the stock market this may be the best broker. For serious investors, however, this may not be your site.
— Great online broker.I have been an ETrade customer for several years and i can say that they offer absolutely exceptional service. I considered a few other brokers when I opened my account, but I chose E-Trade because a close friend recommended it. I would also recommend it to anyone. The account was easy to open and I transfered shares from an existing account without any issues. Also ETrade has exceptional services like high-yield savings accounts, roll-over retirement accounts, checking accounts, credit & debit cards, roll-over retirement accounts, and low mortgages. I would like my relationship with ETrade a long one.
— Great online broker.I've been using E-Trade for about five or six years now, and I can honestly say it's an excellent and well-done site. I considered other brokers when I opened my account, but I am glad I stuck with E-Trade. While the commissions are not extremely cheap, and probably just average for an online broker, there's much more to keep you here. There is a ton of additional information for pretty much every stock you can think of. There are multiple sources of analyst research and reviews. In addition to being a great brokerage site, they also offer banking services and more. E-Trade has high-yield savings accounts, checking accounts, credit & debit cards, roll-over retirement accounts, and even pretty low mortgages. All of these extensive services definitely make this a site more than worthwhile. I absolutely recommend E-Trade to both casual traders and long-term investors for its ease of use and wealth of information. You can’t go wrong with putting your money here.
— most diverseI have used Etrade for a decade and they have only gotten better. Their diversified, economic service is the best in the business. Cheapest place i know to trade stocks, bonds, options and mutual funds in one place. Plus the bank, and the mortgage business. One stop shopping!!!!!
— Good ValueI’ve been with eTrade for about 6 months. I haven’t had many problems except for a problem opening my account. I had to send in the paper work twice, as it was somehow lost the first time. Possibly a problem with the postal system. Once the received my application, there was a three week delay before my account was ready for trading. I thought this was a bit long to wait, as I have had other accounts set up in less time. Other then the account setup delays, I haven’t had problems using their online trading platform. It’s pretty simple to use and learn. I’ve never traded online before, but was able to figure it out within about half an hour. I haven’t had to call them up, and when I did they were knowledgeable and helped me out without being passed around. The question was pretty simple though. For the low fee, I don’t expect much customer service.
— Not what it use to beI have been an ETrade customer for several years and have to also say that it used to be better. Not only have I lost money (my own fault) but the fees that I am charged ate up any other cash that I had in my account. I had much better customer service with Quick and Reilly, which over the past several years has gone by the wayside. I am hoping to add funds to my account and invest again, now may be the best time with the economy the way it is. It used to be that I could call and get friendly customer service from a real person, the last time I called, which was recently; it took what seemed like forever to even get to a real person. I will try and stay with ETrade, but it may be a battle to keep me with them for the long haul.
